The linear 10 mile Chess Valley Walk runs between Rickmansworth and Chesham; Chenies is about half way and just off the walk so a first-rate stopping point for lunch!

An excellent 2-page guide to the walk is published by the Chilterns Conservation Board and can be found at https://www.chilternsaonb.org/uploads/files/Walks_and_Rides/Chess-Valley-Walk-Leaflet-For-Web.pdf . It also describes various points of interest and history along the route.

The walk is easily accessed at both ends from the underground at Rickmansworth and Chesham. The guide also suggests routes to or from Chorleywood station or Chalfont and Latimer (Little Chalfont) station if you don’t want to do the full route.

There is another guide to the walk and the transport links at either end, with some beautiful photographs at https://www.greatbritishbucketlist.com/chess-valley-walk/
